A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO CHET McKOWAN OF THE COMMUNITY DEVELOP-
MENT DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM FOR
MORE THAN 23 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED
SERVICE.
WHEREAS, after serving as an aviation machinist mate
in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946 and prior to
employment with the City, Chester McKowan was a private
building contractor in the cities of Orange and Santa Ana, and
two of his earliest projects still stand, his first home
on South Pixley Street and the bar which he helped
to construct at the Meldor (now known as O'Hara's Pub);
and WHEREAS, on July 29, 1968, Chet began his
service with the Public Works Department as a Building
Inspector,was promoted to Inspection Supervisor in July 1981,
and in 1988 became the Plan Check Coordinator;
and WHEREAS, he is highly respected and has
established excellent rapport with the citizens, developers,
and architects;
and WHEREAS, Chet has announced his decision to
retire on April 6, 1992;
and WHEREAS, Chet has plans to again become active
in the Izaak Walton League, an active conservation group
in Orange County;
and WHEREAS, Chet and his wife, Adele, are the owners
of a motor home and plan to enjoy camping and traveling
with a local camping organization, "The Jipsy's";
and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City
Council and fellow employees hereby express sincere
appreciation and congratulations to Chet McKowan for his more than
23 years of loyal and dedicated service to the City
of Orange, and further, wish Chet a healthy, prosperous
and satisfying
retirement.ADOPTED this 17th day of March,
1992.
