A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ORAHGE COMMENDING MS. GAYLE
LEWIS FOR HEROIC ACTION IN RENDERING
LIFE-SAVING AID TO TEN MORTH
OLD JONATBAH
RIVAS.WHEREAS, on July 14, 1993, Jonathan Rivas accidentally
fell into a swimming pool, after crawling out of the residence
where his mother was babysitting;
and WHEREAS, Jonathan Rivas was pulled, unconscious, from
the pool by his mother whose screaming and crying was heard by
Ms.Lewis, a next door neighbor;
and WHEREAS, Ms. Lewis called 9-1-1 and
her neighbor for assistance, and directed Jonathan Rivas's mother
to the front yard of
the residence; and WHEREAS, Ms. Lewis
immediately began
mouth-to-mouth resuscitation; and WHEREAS, this valiant and
heroic effort, prior to the arrival of Police and Fire Units, assisted
in saving
the life of Jonathan Rivas.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that
the City Council of the City of Orange, on behalf of all
its citizens, commends Ms. Gayle Lewis for her unselfish and
heroic actions in averting the possible tragic loss of
life in this unfortunate incident.ADOPTED
