RES-8168 Loyal Service Appreciation for Arden L. PedersenRESOLUTION NO. 8168 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE COMMENDING ARDEN L. (PETE) PEDERSEN FOR MORE THAN TWENTY-FOUR YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF ORANGE.WHEREAS, "Pete" began his career with the City in June, 1963 as a Firefighter, spending time in all stations and becoming very proficient on Engine Company and Truck Company operations; and WHEREAS, during his service in the Orange Fire Department he performed many different assignments; he was promoted to Engineer on October 16, 1968, and became very adept at driving and operating all department apparatus; promoted to Captain in May, 1970, during which time he was very instrumental in training his personnel for advancement and developing his personal skill level for future promotions; he was assigned to Administrative Captain in February 1977, where he assumed the responsibility for Department budget preparation, Purchasing Officer, and Coordinator for the newly created Paramedic Program in the City; as Battalion Chief, effective March, 1983, he was assigned to Suppression duty as the "C" Shift Commander. He assisted in developing the paramedic fee system, thereby allowing a second paramedic unit to function in the City; and WHEREAS, "Pete" also served as Interim Fire Chief in March, 1984,after which he was reassigned as Battalion Chief and remained so until he was appointed Training Director in April, 1987. "Pete" was also recognized for outstanding achievement by receiving the Employee of the Month award for August, 1984; and WHEREAS, Arden L. "Pete" Pedersen left his position as Training Director for the Orange City Fire Department after more than 24 years of faithful service to accept the appointment as Fire Chief of Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District in August, 1987.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Orange hereby expresses its deep appreciation for the outstanding service rendered to our City by Arden L.
