A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE HONORING THE MEMORY
OF CITY MANAGER DAVID F. DIXON FOR HIS
OUTSTANDING cONTRmunoNs TO THE
CITY OF ORANGE.
WHEREAS, David F. Dixon began his successful career in city government
thirty years ago in the City of Lompoc, California and served as City Manager to the
cities of Banning; Rancho Mirage; Sandy, Utah; served for three years as Assistant
County Administrative Officer for Riverside County; and as City Manager, guided the
cities of Moreno Valley and Temecula through a period of incorporation and
unprecedented growth; and
WHEREAS, David was a loving husband; proud father of three daughters, Kim,
Jodie and Sherie; stepfather to Thomas and Wendy; and grandfather to Tyler and
Heather; and
WHEREAS, he joined the City of Orange family in February of 1994, as City
Manager, and led the City through a difficult period following the County bankruptcy
and sought to pare down city government, privatize where possible, and better utilize
existing personnel; and
WHEREAS, he was instrumental in creating the City's first Economic
Development Department, and during his tenure, several business development
projects were planned--many coming to fruition-communicating his
philosophy for the City's future by stressing a strong business
base; and WHEREAS, David was a true public servant,
demonstrating professionalism and strength in leadership to the 120,000 citizens of the City of Orange and
the 650 employees in eleven City departments, and will be remembered for his
quick smile,his warm sense of humor, and his "rolled-up shirt sleeves"
approach to handling whatever challenges
came his way.NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council, on
behalf of all employees of the City of Orange, d,o hereby honor the extraordinary
life of City Manager David F. Dixon, whose memory will remain in the hearts of
the
people of Orange.ADOPTED this 12th day
