RES-8466 Loyal Service Appreciation for Christopher A. GriffithRESOLUTION NO. 8466 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO DETECTIVE CHRISTOPHER A. GRIFFITH OF THE ORANGE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM FOR IDS MORE THAN lWENTY-ONE YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE.'WHEREAS, Christopher A. Griffith began his service as a patrol officer with the City of Orange Police Department on July 3, 1973, and was promoted to Detectives on July 4, 1976, where he has distinguished himself with his involvement with the youth of the community through the DARE Program and School Resource Officer; and WHEREAS, Chris has a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Economics from Chapman University, a Masters of Arts in Human Management from Pepperdine University, and is a graduate of the Delinquency Control Institute from the University of Southern California, and has a Peace Officers Standards and Training Advanced Certificate; and WHEREAS, Chris has served as Vice President, Sergeant at Arms, and Secretary to the Southern California Juvenile Officers' Association; and WHEREAS, Chris has been the Chairman of the Student Attendance Review Board for the past 14 years, the Coordinator in the City of Orange for the Pyles Boys Camps, winch sends underprivileged boys and boys at risk for gang influence to camp,and has served on the Substance Abuse Awareness Committee; and WHEREAS, for nine years, Chris coached Orange Junior Soccer, National Junior Basketball, and North Tustin Little League Baseball; and WHEREAS, Chris has won gold medals in skiing and swimming in the Police Olympics, and was a long distance runner for 5 years in the Baker to Vegas Law Enforcement Run; and WHEREAS, Chris, a valued and productive employee who has had an outstanding career as an Orange Police Officer, has decided to retire.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Orange expresses to Detective Chris Griffith of the Orange Police Department its sincere appreciation for his more than 21 years ofloyal and dedicated service to the City of Orange.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council, on behalf of the of Orange, wishes Chris a happy, healthy and fulfilling retirement.
