RES-8460 Loyal Service Appreciation for Marilyn J. JensenRESOLUTION NO. 8460 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO MARILYN J. JENSEN, CITY CLERK AND COMMENDING HER FOR THIRTY YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE. WHEREAS, Marilyn J. Jensen began service for the City of Orange on September 4, 1965 as LibraI)' Clerk and advanced through every position in the City Clerk's Office and was appointed City Clerk/Chief Clerk on July 25, 1979; and WHEREAS, "Marilyn Joyce, the People's Choice" was ftrst elected as City Clerk in April, 1980, and was re-elected in 1984, 1988 and 1992, faithfully serving the citizens of Orange as City Clerk for the past ftfteen years. She has served under six City Managers, two Acting City Managers, two Interim City Managers and seven Mayors; and WHEREAS, during this time, Marilyn has achieved the title of Certified Municipal Clerk, managed the rust Word Processing Division for the City, established a microftlm system for records, created an official City photo catalog, Editor for the Orange Progress newsletter for 11 years, maintained the department's budget in a prudent manner, controlled the sales and roster of the Centennial program of commemorative bricks that iliC located around the Plaza area, created "Minutes in Minutes" - the rust use of PC's for minute-taking which is now used by most City Clerks, and was one of the rust City Clerks in the area to install an Optical Imaging System for records; and WHEREAS, one of Marilyn's favorite projects as a member of the Centennial Co 'ttee, was to oversee the cake walk around the Plaza, where over 1400 citizens donate cakes that were laid end to end around the Plaza for the Centennial festivities.This p ~ect was so successful that the cakes circled the plaza twice; and HEREAS, the Office of City Clerk provides a communication link between citizen , their local government legislative body, administrative departments and agencies ofgo\' rnment at other levels and as City Clerk, the "hub of the wheel" Marilyn, has effecti ely performed her duties while maintaining a sense of humor in all types of situati s. Solving problems and stream lining procedures has been one of her strengths,while roviding viable solutions. Marilyn has attended over 500 City Council meetings and ha demonstrated unwaivering dedication to the office of the City Clerk.OW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council on behalf of the em loyees and citizens of the City of Orange, hereby expresses to Marilyn J. sincere appreciation for her 30 years of dedicated service and wishes Marilyn and her husband Bob a healthy, happy retirement.
