A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO GARY
CONNIFF OF THE ORANGE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND
COMMENDING HIM FOR MORE THAN THIRTY YEARS
OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, on December 11, 1965, Gary Conniff began his career as a
full-time fireman for the City of Orange Fire Department;
and WHEREAS, during his more than 30 year career, Firefighter
Conniff utilized his outstanding skills and training, both on and off duty, to protect the
lives and property of his fellow citizens;
and WHEREAS, Gary made many positive contributions to the fire
service,including his work as the department photographer; his work with the
community and schools on earthquake preparedness, disaster planning and fire
prevention education; and his work with and support ofthe Pitcher Park Fire Museum;
and WHEREAS, Gary was twice selected to Rotary ClubA ward in
recognition of his many hours spent as liaison with the "Bomberos" from our Sister
City,Queretaro, Mexico, coordinating the donation of surplus fire and police
equipment,and developing a bond of friendship with our Mexican neighbors;
and WHEREAS, on September 3, 1996, Gary will end his active-duty
role as an employee of the City of Orange by
retiring; and WHEREAS, his exceptional contributions have been invaluable
to the Orange Fire Department, the City, and to the community at large
during his
outstanding career.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Orange that Firefighter Gary Conniff be recognized and
congratulated for his loyal and dedicated services to the City of Orange for more than
thirty years,BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council, on behalf
of the citizens of Orange, wishes Gary a happy, healthy and
ADOPTED this 27th day of August, 1996,
