RES-8606 Loyal Service Appreciation John B. AguiarRESOLUTION NO. 8606 A RESOLUTION OF TIlE CITY COUNCIL OF TIlE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO JOHN B. AGUIAR OF TIlE ORANGE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM FOR THIRTY- TWO YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE. WHEREAS, John B. Aguiar began his career as a Fireman with the City of Orange Fire Department on June 16, 1964, and was subsequently promoted to Fire Engineer on June 1, 1968, and to Fire Captain on April 30, 1972; and WHEREAS, during his 32-year career, Captain Aguiar was a highly productive member of the fire department and made many positive contributions to the fire service,including his work on the department mapping system, the computer aided dispatch system, and automatic aid agreements; and WHEREAS, John is highly respected by his fellow fIrefighters and was selected by his colleagues to receive the Orange Rotary Club 1994 Firefighter of the Year Award; and WHEREAS, John was named by the City Council as the Employee of the Month,April 1985, and was twice selected to receive the Rotary Club Award of Merit, all in recognition of his many hours of work devoted to special projects; and WHERKAS, John consistently encouraged and assisted fellow firefighters in attaining their career goals by training and preparing them for promotional examinations; and WHEREAS, John served for many years as the Coordinator of the Orange County School District Regional Occupational Program, providing useful information,training, and inspiration to young people desiring a career in the fIre service; and WHEREAS, on May 27, 1996, John will end his actiye-duty role as an employee of the City of Orange by retiring; and WHEREAS, his contributions have been invaluable to the Orange Fire Department, the City, the citizens, and particularly the youth of the community that he has served during his NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orange that Fire Captain John Aguiar be recognized and congratulated for his loyal and dedicated service to the City of Orange for these past thirty-two years.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council, on behalf of the citizens of Orange, wishes John and his wife, Carol, a happy, healthy and fulfilling retirement.ADOPTED this 14th day of May, 1996.
