RES-8858 Loyal Service Appreciation for Richard DittbernerRESOLUTION NO. 8858 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO RICHARD 'DICK' DITTBERNER OF THE ORANGE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM FOR MORE THAN THIRTY YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE. WHEREAS, Richard 'Dick' Dittberner began his career with the Orange Fire Department on September 18,1967, as a Fireman, and was promoted through the ranks of Engineer, Captain, and Battalion Chief; and WHEREAS, during this time, Dick served the department in many special assignments, including Administrative Services Captain, Training Director, Operations Division Chief, and Interim Fire Chief; and WHEREAS, on December 9, 1997, the Orange City Council announced the appointment of Richard 'Dick' Dittberner to a permanent status of Assistant Fire Chief of the Orange City Fire Department; and WHEREAS, during his 30+ year career, Dick has made many valuable contributions to the fire service, including his work on the development and implementation of the Orange County Urban Search and Rescue Team; his contributions to the successes of the North Net Training Center as a recognized regional training facility for Advanced Rescue Systems Training; and for his contributions as President of the Orange County Fire Chiefs' Training Officers Section; and WHEREAS, Dick was actively involved in many worthwhile community efforts such as the Red Cross Blood Drives; the Boy Scouts of America; and WHEREAS, Dick has served the citizens of Orange with the highest level of professional integrity and devoted leadership during his outstanding career; and WHEREAS, on December 30, 1997, Chief Dittberner will end his active-duty role as Interim Fire Chief of the City of Orange by retiring.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orange that Interim Fire Chief Richard Dittberner be recognized congratulated for his loyal and dedicated service to the City of Orange for more than thirty years. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council, on behalf of the citizens of Orange, wishes Dick and his wife, Sibyl, a long, happy and h,~althy retirement. ADOPTED this 9th day of December, 1997.
