RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO ALAN BURNS FOR HIS SERVICE
AS INTERIM CITY ATTORNEY WHEREAS,
Alan Burns was retained as Interim City Attorney on July 1,1996,
on an interim basis and continued to serve in that capacity until March 31,1997;
and WHEREAS,
Mr. Burns also served as the City Attorney for Fountain Valley during
this time and continues to do so; and WHEREAS,
while serving in this capacity Mr. Bums proved himself to be a reliable
and knowledgeable City Attorney; and WHEREAS,
during this period Mr. Bums was able to implement new ideas to
improve the operations of the City Attorney's office and to keep the City Council apprised
of City Attorney activities, such as the development of a matrix for code enforcement
prosecutions; and WHEREAS,
Mr. Burns' excellent interim work afforded the City with an opportunity
to conduct a lengthy recruitment process for the position of City Attorney
without experiencing a drop off in the level and quality of service provided by
the City Attorney's office; and WHEREAS,
the City Council recognizes that Mr. Burns made a major commitment
to the City which could have negatively impacted other aspects of his law
practice and that inordinate demands were made upon him during this interim period.
Now,
therefore, be it resolved, that the City Council of the City of Orange expresses
its appreciation to Mr. Burns for the professionalism and concern he evidenced
during his time as Interim City Attorney.ADOPTED
