RES-8944 Temporary Street Closure for Special EventRESOLUTION NO. 8944
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ORANGE TEMPORARILY CLOSING SECTIONS OF
GLASSELL STREET AND CHAPMAN AVENUE
IMEDIATELY ABUTTING THE "PLAZA" AREA OF
THE DOWNTOWN BUSINESS DISTRICT FOR A
SPECIAL EVENT.
WHEREAS, Vehicle Code Section 2110 1 (e) authorizes cities to close portions of streets
for celebrations and local special events when, in the opinion of the City Council, the closing is
necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to use that portion of the street during
the temporary closing; and
WHEREAS, the Orange Chamber of Commerce has requested a temporary street closure
to accommodate the annual Gogh Van Orange Arts & Music Festival in the streets of the Plaza.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orange as
follows:
Section I:
That Chapman Avenue be closed from Lemon Street easterly to Grand Street; and Glassell
Street from Almond Avenue northerly to Maple Avenue be closed from 12:01 a,m. Saturday -June
6, 1998 through 11:00 p.m. Sunday - June 7, 1998,Section II:
That before
said closure shall occur, the Orange Chamber of Commerce shall provide all signing, barricades
and traffic control necessary for the closure acceptable to the City, including the Police
and Public Works Departments.SectionID:The

Chamber of Commerce shall notifY area residents of the event and temporary street closure
in accordance with the Police Department's directions,ADOPTED this
