RES-8872 Temporary Street Closure for Special EventRESOLUTION NO. 8872 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE TEMPORARILY CLOSING SECTIONS OF GLASSELL STREET AND CHAPMAN A VENUE IMMEDIATELY ABUTTING THE "PLAZA" AREA OF THE DOWNTOWN BUSINESS DISTRICT FOR SPECIAL EVENTS IN 1998. WHEREAS, Vehicle Code Section 211 0 1 ( e) authorizes cities to close portions of streets for cdebrations and local special events when, in the opinion of the City Council, the closing is necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to use that portion of the street during the tl:mporary closing; and WHEREAS, the Downtown Orange Business & Professional Association, the Orange Chamber of Commerce, the International Street Fair Committee, the Rotary Club of Orange Sunrise have requested a temporary street closing to accommodate several special events in the streelts of the Plaza, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orange as follows: AUTO SHOW - ROTARY CLUB OF ORANGE SUNRISE:Section I:That Chapman Avenue be closed from Olive Street easterly to Orange Street; and Glassell Stree: t from Almond Avenue northerly to Maple Avenue be closed on Sunday - April 19, 1998 from 5: 30 a,m, to 3:00 p,m,Section II: That before said closure shall occur, the Rotary Club of Orange Sunrise shall provide all signing, barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure acceptable to the City, including the Police and Public Works Departments,Section ill: The Rotary Club of Orange Sunrise shall notifY area residents of the event and temporary streelt closure in accordance with the Police Department's directions, GOGH VAN ORANGE - ORANGE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE:Section I:That Chapman Avenue be closed from Olive Street easterly to Orange Street; and Glassell Street from Almond Avenue northerly to Maple Avenue be closed from 12:01 a,m, Saturday -May 16, 1998 through 11:00 p,m, Sunday - May 17,1998,Section II:That before said closure shall occur, the Orange Chamber of Commerce shall provide all signing, barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure acceptable to the City, including the Police and Public Works Departments,Section ill:The Orange Chamber of Commerce shall notifY area residents of the event and temporary street closure in accordance with the Police Department's directions,INTERNATIONAL STREET FAIR - INTERNATIONAL STREET FAIR COMMITTEE Section I:That Chapman Avenue be closed from Lemon Street easterly to Grand Street; and Glassell Street from Almond Avenue northerly to Maple Avenue be closed from 9:00 p,m, Thursday -Sept~:mber 3, 1998 through 7:00 a,m, Monday - September 7, 1998,Section II:That before said closure shall occur, the International Street Fair Committee shall provide all signing, barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure acceptable to the City,including the Police and Public Works Departments,Section ill:The International Street Fair Committee shall notifY area residents of the event and temporary street closure in accordance with the Police Department's directions,2- ANTIOUE FAIRE ASSOCIATION: DOWNTOWN ORANGE BUSINESS & PROFESSIONAL Section I: That Chapman Avenue be closed from Olive Street easterly to Orange Street; and GlasseU Street from Almond Avenue northerly to Maple Avenue be closed on Sunday - October 25, 1998,from 12:01 a,m, to 8:00 p,m.Section IT:That before said closure shaU occur, the Downtown Orange Business & Professional Assodation shaU provide aU signing, barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure acceptable to the City, including the Police and Public Works Departments,Section ill:The Downtown Orange Business & Professional Association shaU notifY area residents of the event and temporary street closure in accordance with the Police Department's directions,TRICK OR TREAT THROUGH THE STREETS" HALLOWEEN EVENT -DOWNTOWN ORANGE BUSINESS & PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION:Section I: That Chapman Avenue be closed from Olive Street easterly to Orange Street; and GlasseU Street from Almond Avenue northerly to Maple Avenue be closed on Saturday-October 31, 1998, from 3:00 p,m, to 9:00 p,m,Section IT: That before said closure shall occur, the Downtown Orange Business & Professional Association shall provide all signing, barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure acceptable to the City, including the Police and Public Works Departments,Section ill: The Downtown Orange Business & Professional Association shall notifY area residents of the event and temporary street closure in accordance with the Police Department's directions,3- TRE,E LIGHTING CEREMONY - CITY OF ORANGE.
