RES-9105 Loyal Service Appreciation Seargeant Stanley Gabel JrRESOLUTION NO. 9105 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO SERGEANT STANLEY GABEL JR. OF THE ORANGE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM FOR MORE THAN THIRTY YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE. WHEREAS, Stanley Burke Gabel Jr., began his service with the City of Orange Policle Department on February 25, 1969 after serving 2 years with the Garden Grove PD; and WHEREAS, Stan, AKA "Bumper", who carries badge # 150, who after attending the Los Angeles PD Academy, served as a Patrol Officer; and WHEREAS, on January 9, 1975 Stan was promoted to Motor Officer with a handle of "33150M", later attending the California Highway Patrol Motor Riding Academy and on May 16, 1982 was promoted to Detective assigned to the Traffic Division, where he investigated numerous fatal accidents. Stan was promoted to Patrol Sergeant on October 4, 1987, Motor Sergeant on January 26, 1992, and returned to Patrol Sergeant on March 17, 1996;. and WHEREAS, in 1997 Stan was awarded the Supervisor of Year by the members of the Orange Police Department, Police Officer of the Year by the Police Explorers in 1973; and WHEREAS, Stan has served as Vice President of the City of Orange Police Officers Association, President of the Villa Park Little League Baseball, the Sergeant of Arms for the Rotary Club, and has received numerous commendations and recognition for his contributions to the Orange Police Department and the Community; and WHllREAS, Stan enjoys golfing, boating and has become a "Computer Nerd"; and WHllREAS, Stan, a valued and productive employee who has had an outstanding career as an Orange Police Officer, serving under nine (9) Chiefs of Police, has decided to retire on July 4, 1999. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Orange expresses to Sgt. Stan Gabel of the Orange Police Department its sincere appreciation for his more than 30 years of loyal and dedicated service to the City of Orange. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council, on behalf of the citizens of Orangt~, wishes Stan and his family a happy, healthy and fulfilling retirement. ADOPTED this 11 th day of May, 1999.
