RES-9060 Temporary Street Closures for Special EventsRESOLUTION NO. 9060 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE TEMPORARILY CLOSING SECTIONS OF GLASSELL STREET AND CHAPMAN A VENUE IMMEDIATELY ABUTTING THE "PLAZA" AREA OF THE DOWNTOWN BUSINESS DISTRICT FOR SPECIAL EVENTS IN 1999. WHEREAS, Vehicle Code Section 2110 1 (e) authorizes cities to close portions of streets for celebrations and local special events when, in the opinion of the City Council, the closing is necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to use that portion of the street during the temporary closing; and WHEREAS, the Downtown Orange Business & Professional Association, the Orange Chamber of Commerce, the International Street Fair Committee, the Rotary Club of Orange Sunrise have requested a temporary street closing to accommodate several special events in the streets of the Plaza. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orange as follows: AUTO SHOW - ROTARY CLUB OF ORANGE SUNRISE:Section I:That Chapman Avenue be closed from Lemon Street easterly to Grand Street; and Glassell Stn: et from Almond Avenue northerly to Maple Avenue be closed on Sunday - April 18, 1999 April 25, 1999, rain date) from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.Section IT: That before said closure shall occur, the Rotary Club of Orange Sunrise shall provide all signing, barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure acceptable to the City, including the Police and Public Works Departments.Sectionm:The Rotary Club of Orange Sunrise shall notify area residents of the event and temporary street closure in accordance with the Police Department's directions.
