C. Request for school traffic control in proximity to the intersection of Cannon St. and San
Juan Ave.

Jim McMillen, Principal Linda Vista Elemenary School- 1200 N. Cannon St.
Chairman Fortier ciosed the public hearing and retumed the item to the Commission for
fina!discussion and/or a motion.
RECOMMENDATION:
APPROVE the foilowing:
• Placement of crossing guard with traffic controi experience; and
• Request appropriation of$4,500 annuai salary for crossing guard;
• Repaint crosswalks and legends;
• Install concrete pad as waiting area for pedestrians adjacent to the crosswalk at the
south end of the intersection;
• Install 'DO NOT BLOCK INTERSECTION' signs and legends for southbound traffic on
Cannon St.;
• Install 'NO U TURN' signs on Cannon St. at the school's south property line; and ask
the schoof to:
1. Reverse tra�c flow wifhin it's driveways and parfcing lot;
2. Encourage OUSD to make improvements fo back of school site for a paved area
. for school busses to pick-up or drop off children and thereby remove bus tra�c
from front parking Iot;
3. Send copy to OUSD with CTC recommendations with suggested time to
implement improvements.
