RES-9293 Temporary Closures of Public Streets for Block PartiesRESOLUTION NO. 9293 r- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE TEMPORARILY CLOSING SECTIONS OF PUBLIC STREETS FOR BLOCK PARTIES. WHEREAS, Vehicle Code Section 21101(e) authorizes cities to close portions of streets for celebrations and local special events when, in the opinion of the City Council, the closing is necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to use that portion of the street during the temporary closing; and WHEREAS, various residents have requested several temporary street closures to accommodate block parties within their neighborhoods, and WHEREAS, residents have agreed to comply with the regulations governing parties in public places that alcoholic beverages on public streets are a violation of the law, loud or offensive music will lead to the revocation of their permits, it is the applicants' responsibility to clean the streets after the event, and to maintain 12 feet of unobstructed access for emergency vehicles. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Orange does resolve as follows: BLOCK PARTY MAY 28. 2000 - EVERETT PLACE Section I:Ratification of administrative decision that Everett Place between California Street and Maplewood Street be closed from 3:00 P.M. through 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 28,2000.Section II:That before said closure area residents shall provide all signing, barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure acceptable to the City, including the Police and Public Works Departments. Section III: That Ms. Robin Stevenson, representing area residents, shall notify area residents of the event and temporary street closure in accordance with the Police Department's directions. 4th OF JULY BLOCK PARTY - W. CHERRY DR.Section I:That Cherry Drive from Main St. easterly to 1106 Cherry Dr. be closed from 10:00 A.M.through 9:00 P.M. - July 4th, 2000.Section II: That before said closure area residents shall provide all signing, barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure acceptable to the City, including the Police and Public Works Departments.Section III: That Stacy Lay and Michael Adamczyk, representing area residents, shall notify area residents of the event and temporary street closure in accordance with the Police Department's directions.4th OF JULY BLOCK PARTY - E. LOCUST AVE.Section I:That Locust Avenue from Hart Street to Handy Street be closed from 11:00 A.M. through 8:00 P.
