The regular meeting of the Orange Public Library Board of Trustees was cailed to order at 4 p.m. by Chairman George Gorham in the Corr�nunity Room of the Main Library. Present: Trustees Courtney, Gorham, McEwan and Way. Also present, Kerry Stafford, Main l.ibrary Manager ; Rosanne Miller , Librarian in Main Library Children's Section; Karen A. Leo, Library Director and Sheila Gannon, Administrative Secretary. Absent: Trustee 5aenz il . Trustee Courtney moved that the minutes of the April 17 meeting be approved as presented. Secon�ied by Trustez McEwan. Motion carried. III . Financiai Report Director Leo reported that at the end of the third quarter of the fiscai year , 66.6% of the departmert budget should be spent. She stated that the Library has spent 59% of its budget, which is very good. She said we are under budget in every category. IV. Legislative Update Chairman Gorham reported on Legislative Day. He said Senator Seymour was not available because he was in committee, but his aide was friendly and informat ;ve. He said a rally on literacy was being held on the north steps of the capitol building which was very orderly and interesting. He stated that Director Leo, Nora Jacob and himself had an appointment with Assemblyman Lewis and he was very cordia! a�d seemed well informed on library matters. Director Leo remarked on how many Friends and Trustees from throughout the state, in addition to �ibrarians, were in attendance for Legislative Day. V.
