The regular meeting of the Orange Public Library Board of Trustees was called to
order at 4:45 p.m. in the office of the Library Director.
Present: Trustees Courtney, Diaz, Lehman and Tavis
Absent: Trustee Gorham
The minutes of the previous meeting, August 20, 1979, were approved as read.
Reports Presented and Discussed:
Monthly report from the Finance Director, July 31, 1979
Monthly report of library service, August 1979
FRIENDS OF THE ORANGE PUBLIC LIBRARY
The benches purchased by the Friends are now at E1 Modena Branch Library.
The annual book sale will be held Saturday, October 27, 8:00 a.m. to
6:00 p.m. in the staff parking 1ot at the main library,
The Friends semi-annual meeting will be held Sunday, November 18 at 3:00 p.m. .
Taft Branch I,ibrary's latest cookbook has now sold enough to cover the
costs involved.
TRUSTEES ORGANIZATION
The next meeting of the Trustees of Orange County will be held Monday,
October 15, 1979, at the Placentia Library District.
SANTIAGO LIBRARY SYSTEM
Our members of the Lay Advisory Board, Mary Ellen 0'Neill and George Gorham,
met at the Fullerton Public Library Septe.mber 4. Mr. Erlich read a report
submitted by George Gorham covering this meeting.
WHITE HOUSE CONFERENCE
A discussion meeting with the Southern California delegates to the. White
House Conference on Libraries and Information Services will be held at
the Fullerton Public Library Wednesday, September 19, 7:30 p.m. .

BOOK SECURITY SYSTEM
Mr. Erlich is presently engaged in a study concerning the feasibility
of installing a book security system for the Orange Public I,ibraries.
SANTA ANA COLLEGE COURSE
A course jointly sponsored by Rancho Santiago College District and the
Orange Public Library on B1Cults In America" will be held in the Community
Room of the Orange Public Library October 11y lOy 25, and November l,
7;00 to 9:00 p.m.
Mr. E rlich reported on the Dieciseis de Septiembre Celebracion. Councilman
Barrera was guest speaker.
The meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
Next regular meeting wi11 be Monday, October 15, 1979, 4:30 p.m. in the office
of the Library Director.
