August 20, 1979
The regular meeting of the Orange Public Library Board of Trustees was called
to order at 4:30 p.m. in the office of the Library Director.
Present: Trustees Courtney, Diaz, Gorham
Absent: Trustees Lehman and Tavis
The minutes of the previous meeting, July 23, 1979, were approved as re.ad.
Reports presented and discussed:
Monthly report from the Einance Director dated June 30, 1979
Monthly report of library service dated July 1979
FRIENDS OF THE ORANGE PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Friends of the Orange Public Library have. decided to purchase three benches
instead of a fountain for the El Modena Branch Library.
The annual book sale will take place Saturday, October 27, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
on the staff parking lot at the main library.
TRUSTEES ORGANIZATION
Library Trustees have been asked to reserve Monday, October 15, 1979 for a
meeting to be held at Placentia Library District.
CLARION
Mr. Erlich then discussed AB 8, the Legislatr;re' s local government bail-out
bill.
WHITE HOUSE CONFERENCE
A pre-White House conference wi11 be held at Fullerton Public Library
September 19, 7:30 p.m. . There are plans for a post-White House Conference
reception to be held November 28, 1979.
K-2 PROGRESS REPORT
The K-2 library information booth housed at The City Shopping Center has
been operational for three weeks. It is doing a moderate business.

BOOK SECURITY SYSTEM
The library is presently investigating various book security systems and costse
LA.Y ADVISORY BOARD
The Lay Advisory Board to the Santiago Library System �will meet at the
Fullerton Public Library 7:30 p.m. , September 4. Mary E11en 0'Neill
and George Gorham will attend.
The meeting adjourned at 5:�a0 p.m.
Next regular meeting wi11 be Monday, September 17, 1979, 4:30 p.m. in the office
of the Library Director.
