A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ORANGE AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY
CLOSURE AND REMOVAL OF ON-STREET
PARKING OF MAPLE AVENUE FROM CENTER STREET
TO CLEVELAND STREET, SHAFFER STREET
FROM CHAPMAN AVENUE TO PALM
AVENUE,TEMPORARILY REMOVING ON-
STREET PARKING AND CLOSING THE PLAZA; FOR FILMING
OF A MAJOR STUDIO MOVIE IN
JANUARY, 2000.WHEREAS, Vehicle Code Section 21101(e) authorizes cities to close portions of
streets for celebrations and local special events when, in the opinion of the City Council, the
closing is nec(:ssary for the safety and protection of persons who are to use that portion of the street
during the temporary
closing; and WHEREAS, Twentieth Century Fox Studios has requested a temporary
street closure and removal of on-street parking to accommodate filming schedule on
Maple Avenue and Shaffer Street January 24-25, 2000, and within the historic Plazaarea January 31 -
February 1,2000.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of
Orange as
follows:Secltion I:That Maple Avenue from Center Street easterly to Cleveland Street be closed from 9:
00 A.M.to 1 :00 P.M. on January 24, 2000 and from I :00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on January 25,
2000 to "through"traf1]c only. That should dates of the filming schedule change the Public
Works Director/City Engineer shall be authorized to modify the street closure dates to accommodate
the filming schedule.That on-street parking shall be temporarily removed within the
film sites
as necessary.Section II:That before said closure shall occur, the event sponsor, Twentieth
Century Fox Studios shall provide all signing, barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure
acceptable to the City including the Police
Section III:
The event sponsor, Twentieth Century Fox Studios, shall notify area residents and businesses
of the temporary street closure and removal of on-street parking in accordance with the
Police Department's
directions.ADOPTED this 11th day of January,
2000.
