RES-9484 Loyal Service Appreciation Patricia MyersRESOLUTION NO. 9484
r-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO
PATRICIA MYERS OF THE CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE
AND COMMENDING HER FOR THIRTEEN YEARS OF
LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE
WHEREAS, Patricia Myers joined the City of Orange on February 8, 1988 as Executive
Secretary to the City Manager, and now retires after thirteen years of employment with the city.
Prior to Orange, she was employed by the City of Azusa as Secretary to the City Administrator,
and the City of Westlake Village as Secretary to the City Manager/Deputy City Clerk. In fact, Pat was
the second employee ever to be hired in that city, In addition to her years in municipal public service,
she worked for two years as Executive Administrative Assistant at United Way.
During her thirteen years at the City, Pat worked as Executive Secretary and "right arm" to five
City Managers: William Little, Ron Thompson, William Cornett, David Dixon, and David Rudat-all
of whom appreciated her hard work and
reliability,Despite the recession and financial roller-coaster on which the City of Orange
and other government agencies found themselves at times between 1988 and 2001, Pat was among
the employees who remained unwavering and professional, always upbeat and encouraging to
her co-workers.Her ability as an Executive Secretary to the City Manager was exemplary, Not
only did she possess top-notch skills, she also was extremely knowledgeable of City policy and
very adept in dealing with members of the public, She managed herself in a cheerful
and professional way, demonstrating steadfast allegiance to her superiors, the City Council, and
the City of Orange,With her years of experience as the silent but stalwart counselor,
guide, confidant, and protector of City Managers, she is most deserving of being admitted to the Executive Secretary'
s Hall of Fame.Once retired, she will certainly not miss the time crunch of
agenda deadlines, her representation on various committees, easing the temper of an occasional irate customer, among
other stressors, If she is inclined to arise at six o'clock in the morning, we hope that it will be to get an early
tee time
on the golf course,Married for thirty-six years, Pat and her husband Tom certainly
deserve to escape from the working rat race to enjoy a more fulfilling and enjoyable time of their lives, After
a month long trip to visit family in Oregon, they plan to move to Menifee, raise a garden, and do many
things they've put on hold for so many years, Rumor has it that Pat will definitely be an "
active retiree," and will soon wonder how she
ever had time for work!NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council,
City staff, and citizens of Orange express sincere gratitude to Patricia Myers on thirteen years ofloyal
and dedicated service to the City of Orange, and wish her
ADOPTED, this 24th day of July, 2001.
