RES-9427 Establishing and Reclassifying City PositionsRESOLUTION NO. 9427 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE ESTABLISmNG TWO NEW FULL TIME CITY POSITIONS AND RECLASSIFYING SIX OTHER EXISTING CITY POSITIONS. WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to establish two new full time positions to better manage both the Police Communications and Traffic Signal maintenance functions; and WHEREAS, City staff recommends new positions of Police Communications Manager and Traffic Signal Technician be added to the current FY 2000101 City budget in both the Police Department and Public Works Department, respectively; and WHEREAS, City staff has discovered six (6) positions within the City's current operation in several departments are currently classified incorrectly; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires the current and future employees in those positions recommended for reclassification be classified and compensated accordingly; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Orange authorize staff to implement the following effective March 25,2001: 1. Establish a full-time position classified as Police Communications Manager to manage the Dispatch function within the Police Department, compensate this new classification at salary range 520 ($4771 to $6118 per month), and place this classification in the Top Management Salary Resolution;2. Establish an additional full-time position of Traffic Signal Technician in the Public Works Department to provide in-house traffic signal maintenance services;3. Incorporate the attached specifications for the new classifications of Police Communications Manager and Plan Check Engineer into the City' s 5. Allow the affected operating departments to absorb the increased costs for salaries and benefits within the current FY 2000101 budget to pay for all adjustments for the current fiscal year; and 6. Incorporate funding of $154,750 within the proposed FY 2001102 budget III the appropriate accounts to pay for these adjustments for the next fiscal year.
