A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING
APPRECIATION TO CORPORAL JACK A.
NANIGIAN OF THE ORANGE POLICE
DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM FOR
MORE THAN TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF
LOYAL AND DEDICATED
SERVICE WHEREAS, Jack A. Nanigian began his service with the Orange
Police Department in June of 1975, first as a Reserve Police Officer, and then as a
full-time officer. He earned a Business degree [rom California State University
Fullerton, and graduated from the Los Angeles
Police Academy.In 1979, Jack was promoted and transferred to the Traffic Bureau, and
worked a variety of assignments such as accident investigator, motor officer, and
master motor officer. Nine years later he was transferred to the Detective Division as
a juvenile detective, later becoming the department's
training manager.From 1989 through the remainder of his career, Jack worked in a
variety of assignments such as gang detective, master motor officer, corporal in
patrol, and
background investigator.The Explorer Program is an area in which Jack devoted much of his
time and energy over the years, and at the time of his retirement served as an
Associate Explorer Advisor. He was an excellent role model to the young people in this
valuable program.Jack received numerous awards during his career from other police
agencies as well as civic organizations, including a Community Service Award from the
Rotary Club of Orange, the Outstanding Service Award by the Orange Unified School
District, the 1992 Investigator of the Year by the Orange County Sexual Assault Unit, and in
May of last year the Award of Merit from the Orange County Council of the Boy
Scouts
of America.He was so well regarded among his colleagues that he chosen Police
Employee of the Month in March 1984, and was later named the City's Employee ofthe
Month two separate times. He was a true asset to the Department and made
many significant contributions to Orange, a city in which he has spent most of
his life.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Orange expresses to Corporal Jack A. Nanigian of the Orange Police
Department its sincere appreciation for more than 25 years ofloyal and dedicated service to the
City of Orange. On behalf of a grateful community, the Orange City Council wishes
Jack a happy, healthy and
