A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE TEMPORARILY CLOSING
SHAFFER STREET FROM CHAPMAN AVENUE TO
ALMOND AVENUE FROM 4:00 P.M. ON FRIDAY,
OCTOBER IS, 2002 TO 10:00 P.M. ON SATURDAY,
OCTOBER 19, 2002 FOR A SPECIAL EVENT AT ST.
JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH.
WHEREAS, Vehicle Code Section 21100(f) authorizes cities to close portions of streets
for celebrations and local special events when, in the opinion of the City Council, the closing is
necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to use that portion of the street during
the temporary closing; and
VHEREAS, St. John's Lutheran Church has requested a temporary closure of a section
of Shaffier Street, and
WHEREAS, The church has agreed to comply with the regulations governing parties in
public places that alcoholic beverages on public streets are a violation of the law, loud or
offensive music will lead to the revocation of their permits, it is the applicants' responsibility to
clean the streets after the event, and to maintain 12 feet of unobstructed access for emergency
vehicles.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Orange does resolve as follows:
That Shaffer Street from Chapman Ave. to Almond Ave. be closed from 4:00 p.m.
lIn Friday, October 18, 2002 to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2002.
ADOPTED this lOth day of September, 2002.
