A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE TEMPORARILY CLOSING A
SECTION OF CANAL STREET ON SATURDAY -JUNE
1,2002, FOR A SPECIAL EVENT.WHEREAS,
Vehicle Code Section 21l01(e) authorizes cities to close portions of streets ~
Jr celebrations and local special events when, in the opinion of the City Council, the closing
iis necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to use that portion of the street
dming the temporary closing; and 1WHEREAS
the Orange YMCA wishes to temporarily close Canal Street between Meats
Avenue and Heim Street; and WHEREAS,
the YMCA has agreed to comply with the regulations governing street closures
for special events that alcoholic beverages on public streets are a violation of the law,
the applicant will provide all signing, barricades, delineation, and traffic control necessary
for the closure acceptable to the City, including the Police and Public Works Department;
that loud or offensive music will lead to the revocation of their permit, notify area
residents of the event and temporary street closure and that it is the applicants'responsibility
to clean the streets after the event.NOW,
THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Orange does resolve as follows:
That
Canal Street, between Meats Avenue and Heim Street be closed from
6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 1, 2002 for a 5K Run sponsored
by the YMCA as part of their 151 st Anniversary.
