CONSIDERATION ITEMS i. Request for the installation of an "All-Way" STOP control at the intersection of Hewes St. and Jordan Ave. Anabelle Ochoa S. Hewes St. Orange CA 9286g The oral presentation is based on the written staff report; please refer to your copy. Chairman Beil opened the public hearing for the following discussion; there were no speakers from tie audience: Chairman Beil — Could you go over how the current flasher operates again? You say it's a timer but it's unlocked and it's only turned on by the Crossing Guard. Dave Allenbach, Transportation Anal st — It's actually on a switch and the crossing guard flips it on in the morning when he comes on duty. The flasher remains on throughout the day and when he's finished crossing the children in the afternoon generally around 3:0o p.m. le will turn the flasher off. When the school is not in session the flasher is not on. It is our belief that when the flasher is on 24-hours a day motorists become blind to it and stop paying attention. When it's on during certain times of the day they pay more attention to it, most likely when there are pedestrians crossing the street. The oral presentation is based on the written staff report; please refer to your copy. Chairman Beil opened the public hearing for the following discussion: ACTION: Denied the request. MOTION: L.
