A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ORANGE RELATING TO
MEASURE V, THE PEOPLE'S INITIATIVE
iVHEREAS, the City of Orange is a Municipality govemed under the laws of the
County of Orange and the State of California; and
iVHEREAS, the City of Orange adopts the current drafted Initiative promulgated by
the Orange COilllty Board of Supervisors, known herein as Measure V, the Charter Initiative;
and
iVHEREAS, Measure V, the Charter Initiative is to be voted upon by Orange County
residents on March 5, 2002; and
WHEREAS, Measure V, the Charter Initiative, does not change or alter any current
general laws governing the County with exception to one change only; and
WHEREAS, Measure V, the Charter Initiative, fills a vacancy on the Board of
Supervisors from gubematorial appointment, which is current general law, to holding a special
election, for purposes of filling vacancies by popular vote.
RESOLVED by the City COilllcil of the City of Orange that it hereby endorses
Measure V, the Charter Initiative; and
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orange that it hereby endorses
Citizens for Local Control for the purposes of Empowering Orange County and Determining
its Future:; and
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orange that it hereby urges its
resident lmd business population to join with the COilllcil in advocating more local control in
that the citizens of this County deserve the right and autonomy to choose their respective
representatives through the ballot box and not by political appointment.
