A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO DETECTIVE JOHN WARDE OF THE ORANGE
POLICE DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM
FOR MORE THAN 15 YEARS OF LOYAL AND
DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, John Warde began his seryice with the Orange Police Department in
January 28, 1988 as a reserye officer, and was hired as a full-time police officer on April 1,
1988;
and WHEREAS, Detective John Warde was initially assigned to the Patrol Division,
where he enjoyed assignments as a Field Training Officer, Crime Scene Investigator, and
Drug Recognition Expert. On August 1, 1993, Detective Warde was transferred to the Bike
Team.John remained on the Bike Team for 5 years, receiving 19 letters of commendation for
his services;
and WHEREAS, in 1995, while a member of the Bike Team, Detective Warde was
critically shot while attempting to apprehend a felon in the "Cal-Trans Shooting." John later
received the Medal of Merit, and the Medal of
Courage; and WHEREAS, on March 29, 1998, Detective Warde was promoted to the
rank of Detective. While in Detectives, John worked in Gangs, Property Crimes, and
Vice and
Narcotics; and WHEREAS, John received numerous awards during his career from
other police agencies as well as civic organizations, private citizens, and various department
heads; and WHEREAS, Detective Warde is highly regarded by his colleagues, has been a
true asset to the Department and made many significant contributions to Orange, a city in which
he has spent his entire 15 plus years in
law enforcement.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Orange expresses to Detective John Warde of the Orange Police Department its sincere
appreciation for more than 15 years of loyal and dedicated seryice to the City of Orange. On behalf of
a grateful community, the Orange City Council wishes John a happy, healthy, and
fulfilling retirement.ADOPTED, this 24th day of
