A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO STEVE W. HARTMAN OF THE PUBLIC
WORKS DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM
FOR MORE THAN 32 YEARS OF LOYAL AND
DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Steve Hartman began his career with the City of Orange in November of
1971 Steve after serving in the United States Army, an honored veteran of the Vietnam War; and
WHEREAS, Steve began as a Mechanic Helper in the Department of Public Works.
He was later promoted to Mechanic in the General Services Department, to Mechanic Lead
Worker and to Equipment Maintenance Supervisor; and
WHEREAS, Steve was involved in numerous professional organizations, including the
American Institute of Maintenance and Government Fleet Services; and
WHEREAS, Steve has been instrumental in the initial development and
implementation of the City of Orange Preventative Maintenance Program for Fleet Equipment.
This included detailed descriptions on Preventative Maintenance Tasks as well as helping with
the initial setup of MaintStar Computerized Maintenance Management System; and
WHEREAS, Steve has served on various City committees regarding our Fleet
Equipment, which includes Fire Department apparatus and Police pursuit vehicles. As Steve
retires he is very proud of his latest achievement, which involved the redesign of the Police
Pursuit Vehicles including many electronic and safety upgrades; and
WHEREAS, Steve introduced many innovative and cost-effective
maintenance methods which benefited the residents and businesses of the City of Orange, including
ensuring our Fire Department emergency response units and Police pursuit vehicles were
properly maintained and safe to operate in extreme driving conditions at all times;
and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Orange, on behalf of the employees and citizens of the City of Orange, hereby expresses to
Steve W. Hartman sincere appreciation for over 32 years of loyal and dedicated service and
wishes Steve and his wife, Laura, a happy and fulfilling
