A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO LINDA
BOONE, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR AND
ASSISTANT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE ORANGE
REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, AND COMMENDING HER
FOR MORE THAN EIGHT YEARS OF LOYAL AND
DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF ORANGE
WHEREAS, Linda Boone was recruited in October 1995 by the City of Orange from Orange
Housing Development Corporation to be the Interim Economic: Development Director, and in September
1996 was appointed Economic Development Director; and
WHEREAS, the American Red Cross, Orange County Chapter, saluted Linda at the Annual
Clara Barton Spectrum Awards for Outstanding Women in Orange County in 1997, and in 2001 she
received the Ruby Slipper Award from the Building Industry Association of Orange County for her
commitment to affordable housing; and since 1999 she has served as a member of Chapman University's
American Celebration Committee; and
WHEREAS, under Linda's direction, in 1999 the: City of Orange received the California
Association for Local Economic Development "Award of Excellence" recognizing the collaborative
efforts of the City and The Mills Corporation for bringing Tht~ Block from concept to reality; and in 2004
the City received the California Redevelopment Association "Award of Excellence" in the
office/commercial retail category for the Main Street Medical Office Project; and
WHEREAS, Linda has been a valuable member of the City of Orange Executive Management
Team, working hard to foster a high level of teamwork and spirit of cooperation across all departments;
and
WHEREAS, through Linda's leadership and support, the Economic Development Department
forged va1uab1e relationships with the business and development community that helped the City retain
and attrac:t a variety of businesses; and
WHEREAS, Linda is a Kentucky Colonel and the great, great, great, great, great, great niece of
Daniel Boone; and
WHEREAS, Linda is famous for her never-ending "to do" lists for herself and others;
and WHEREAS, we will all miss Linda's stories about her "Beau"; and her "Linda-isms"
will be missed and surely never
duplicated; and WHEREAS, the Economic Development staff will fondly remember Linda as a
designer clothes wear'n, Harley drive'n, cake bake'n, pork rind eat'n, cattle drive'n, book love'n, brainstorm'
n, number crunch'n, loyal and fearless
leader; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VEl), the City Council of the City of
Orange, expresses sincere appreciation to Linda Boone and extends their best wishes for a
happy retirement.ADOPTED this 24th day of
