A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL ( THE
CITY OF ORANGE AUTHCIRIZING APPLICATION
FOR THE MOBILE SOURCE AIR POLLUTION
REDUCTION REVIEW C'OMMITTEE FISCAI.,
YEAR 2003-04 LOCAL GOVERNMENT MA`rCH
PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the City of Orange is in need o:f a new street sweeper to accommodate
the additional curb miles resulting from recent: development and annexations; and
WHEREAS, the City of Orange desires tc> sriare in regional goals of cleaner air and
recognizes the value that clean air has in benefitin,g tr e health of Orange's citizens, attracting
businesses, and improving the quality of life in Or ig e; and
WHEREAS, the City of Orange inte,nds to purchase a street sweeper powered by
compressed natural gas (CNG) in order to reduce vehicle emissions and pr.omote air pollution
re 3uction; and
WHEREAS, the Mobile Source ir l'ollution Reduction Review Committee
1 1SRC) has provided a funding program to assiist ,jurisdictions in meeting their clean air
goals.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT IiESOL JEA by the City Council of the City of
Orange as follows:
Section 1. The City Council does fully support the use of CNG powered vehicles
as demonstration of the City's commitment to cleam air.
Section 2. The City Council does ful.ly support and authorize application for
MSRC funding on behalf of the City of Oran;e under the Fiscal Year 2003-04 Local
Government Match Program and does commit the City to the project implementation
schedule contained in the application.
Section 3. The City Council does certiiCy that matching funds are budgeted and
available in the Equipment Replacement F und and that the funds are locally-generated
m nies specifically designated for equipment replacement.
