RESOLUTION NO. 9978
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO DAVID
L. RUDAT FOR OVER 33 YEARS OF COMMITMENT
AND SERVICE TO THE CITY OF ORANGE.
WHEREAS, David L. Rudat has served the City of Orange since the Orange Fire Department
hired him at age 19 on February 12,1972. He set a standard of professionalism as he moved through
the ranks to become the Fire Chief; and
WHEREAS, in September 1995, he embarked on a different career path when he was asked by
the City Council to be Interim City Manager; and then in March of 1996, he was appointed City
Manager; and
WHEREAS, he has provided over thirty three years of service to the City of Orange with
dedication to serving others and ensuring a quality oflife for the residents of the City of Orange; and
WHEREAS, Dave's emphasis on development fostered the renovation of The Block at Orange
and The Village at Orange, as well as other economic development projects that have taken place
during his term as City Manager, creating continued financial growth and stability; and
WHEREAS, with Dave at the helm, the City has benefited from the completion of numerous
important park projects, most notably Grijalva Park at Santiago Creek and the restoration of Plaza
Park; and
WHEREAS, Dave is highly respected by City management, staff, his peers in the County and
the community. He has created an environment that encourages team spirit and motivates employees
to excel; and
WHEREAS, Dave's positive influence will become part of the City's proud history as the City
moves forward with the expansion of the Main Library, the constmction of Fire Stations No.1 and No.
8, and the development of East Orange.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that on behalf of the community and dedicated
staff, the Orange City Council wishes to thank David L. Rudat for his dedication, guidance, and service
to the City of Orange for over 33 years. The Orange City Council gives our best wishes to David L.
Rudat as he embarks on the journey into the next chapter of his life.
