A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO CHRISTO PER CARNES OF THE COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT AND COMMEND
HIM FOR TWENTY-TWO YEARS OF LOYAL
AND DEDICATED
SERVICE.WHEREAS, Christopher Carnes began his career with the City of Orange
on September 10, 1984;
and WHEREAS, he was initially hired as a Planner Assistant I/Code
Enforcement Officer, and in 1987 the position was reclassified to Assistant Planner. By
December 1989, Chris was promoted to Associate Planner and a Senior Planner in 2000, and
on several occasions, he attended Planning Commission meetings as the acting
Planning Manager;
and WHEREAS, throughout his career in Orange, Chris has handled a fair share
of the more difficult and complex projects for the Planning Division,
significantly contributing to many development projects including Serrano Heights, Del Rio,
St.Joseph Hospital, CHOC, The Block at Orange, Equity Offices, Fieldstone, Santiago
Hills I, Belmont Heights, Beazer Homes - just to mention a few; and
WHEREAS, he has represented the Community Development Department over
the years by volunteering to be the Design Review Board representative, department
computer coordinator, department representative for the City's Web Page Committee,
and department representative for the City's Disaster Preparedness Committee; and
WHEREAS, Chris passed his American Institute of Certified Planners
examination in July 1994. He could always be relied upon for research, input and
knowledge; and
WHEREAS, upon his retirement, Chris will be able to continue his love of
traveling, a good cup of coffee, going to the movies, spending more time with his family
and enjoying a fine danish or two. As a resident of Orange, he will also continue to be
involved in the issues and concerns of the City; and
WHEREAS, his outgoing personality will sincerely be missed, not only in the
offices of City Hall, but throughout the entire City of Orange, where he has made
numerous friends and earned the respect of residents, business owners and all those doing
business in Orange.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT, the City Council of the
City of Orange on behalf of the citizens of the City of Orange hereby commend and
congratulate Christopher Carnes for his more than 22 years of loyal and dedicated service
to the City of Orange.
