RES-10094 Loyal Service Appreciation for Leola LordRESOLUTION NO. 10094
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO LEOLA LORD OF THE ORANGE POLICE
DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HER FOR
TWENTY TWO YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Leola Lord began with the City of Orange on March 19, 1984, and
transferred to the Police Department in May 1987, and during her career with the department
worked as the Division Secretary in all three divisions: Investigative Services, Administrative
Services, and Patrol; and
WHEREAS, Leola has worked for 54 years: 26 years for Orange County Farmers
Mutual Fire Insurance Company, 6 years for AMI Hospital, 3 years for the City Clerk's Office
and the last 19 years with the Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Leola is described as a thoughtful, dedicated employee who is well
organized and thorough. Through her work ethic and professionalism, she set the standard for a
professional Police Division Secretary. One particularly noteworthy strength is her legendary
ability to file and be able to retrieve, on a moment's notice, all pertinent correspondence; and
WHEREAS, Leola Lord has shared her personal experiences without hesitation. Her
passion for "accuracy" and helping others with their written work will continue to benefit them
in her absence; and
WHEREAS, going with Leola to her favorite lunch hangouts, including Tummy Stuffer
and Ted's, where she is given wonderful treatment and service for being a long-time,
loyal customer is a treat for any of her friends. The employees actually remember her, what
she orders, and quite frequently have her order written up and darned-near ready to serve as
soon as she walks in the door! Needless to say, it's one of the fringe benefits of dining with
Leola; and WHEREAS, in December of 2004, Leola received the Silent Angel Award
for her outstanding service extended to the Volunteer Program at the Orange
Police Department.THEREFORE, I MARK A. MURPHY, MAYOR, on behalf of the entire
City Council of the City of Orange, hereby extend sincere gratitude to Leola Lord, for twenty-
two years of service to the citizens of the Orange community, and offer best wishes for a
long, happy,
ADOPTED this 13th day of June 2006.
