We bought our home in February 2015 just before the birth of our first child. We fell in love with the architecture of the Eichlers and knew we had something special. O ver the next couple of years we grew our family and found a business opportunity in Las Vegas. It was a difficult decision to leave our beloved home (we were born and raised in OC), but knew that it would be a short term move. The next decision was what were we going to do with this special home that we poured so much love into? We couldn't afford to pay for the mortgage and move to Nevada, but splitting up the family was not an option either. We turned to STR because we always enjoyed the option of renting a home to accommodate our family when we travelled. My first thought was, how were we going to do this while preserving our home, our community, and respecting those around us. I partnered with my brother who still lived in OC. I installed cameras on the property, noise sensors in the home, and provided strict rules for all stays. We have always made it a point to provide a 5 star experience while respecting our community. Overall, we have had great families from all over the world stay in with us. They usually visit Disneyland, beaches, family, and local attractions. They come and go like they were never even there. Leaving our home in great condition. Of course, we have had a handful of not so great tenants during Covid-19. People in search of staycations. However, since December 2019, we moved back from Las Vegas and currently live in our guest house right next door. We put a stop to any shenanigans very quickly. We also have the support of Airbnb in evicting/cancelling reservations should we need to. We are responsible homeowners and hosts. I'm proud to be a part of this share economy that globally connects us in this small part of the world. I believe that our guests add to small economies and businesses in our hometown. We believe that permits and local taxes are a good thing. We want to payback to community that welcomes us. We don't just rent our home out. We live here. Short term renting has given us the opportunity to keep our home when we had to go out of state to find work. It has given us the opportunity to move back with a place to live and a source of income. We hope that we can continue this business and maybe even add another property nearby. If the regulations do pass, we ask that there is a consideration for hosts with a good track record to be approved for additional permits. We hope to continue sharing all that is great about the city of O range. We have a long list of wonderful local recommendations in our house manual that we provide to our guests. Thank you for taking the time to read about our story and experience. I hope we, as a community, can find a way to help satisfy the residents who oppose STRs, while continuing to feed our local economy that stretches from local services like nail salons to tour guides to businesses like restaurants and supermarkets. Thank you, Janey Huynh
