A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO ROGER A. HOHNBAUM OF THE ORANGE
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT AND
COMMENDING HIM FOR OVER ELEVEN AND
ONE-HALF YEARS OF LOYAL AND
DEDICATED
SERVICE.WHEREAS, Roger Hohnbaum started his career in engineering nearly 30 years ago
as a Project Engineer with the County of Orange Environmental Management Agency;
and WHEREAS, while at the other Orange, Roger made his mark working on major
road projects and bridges and advancing to Design Section Chief and Program Manager;
and WHEREAS, Roger finally landed a real job with the City of Orange as Assistant
City Engineer in January 1997 and was promoted to Deputy Director of Public Works in June
2007;
and WHEREAS, Roger has actively represented the City in various
engineering organizations and regional public works endeavors which has been instrumental in
securing millions of grant dollars from federal, state and regions infrastructure agencies;
and WHEREAS, Roger has significantly contributed to the successful planning
and implementation of some of the City's largest Public Works projects in the areas of: bike
trails,facility and park developments, road widenings and critical intersections, and
developments such as Serrano and East Orange;
and WHEREAS, Roger is a vital member of the Public Works management team,
leading in key areas such as innovation, negotiations, technology and systems development
for improved operations;
and WHEREAS, Roger went above and beyond by taking an active role as an officer
and President of the City or Orange Chapter of the National Management Association;
and WHEREAS, in his many years of public service, Roger has kept his
personal commitment to meeting the mission and goals of local government and Public Works
through his supportive and communicative style with each and every employee;
and WHEREAS, Roger's other talents include restaurant critic ("Eating Around
Orange"),metal detecting, golfing, sewing, and
traveling.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, The City Council of the City of
Orange wishes to recognize Mr. Roger A. Hohnbaum for his 30 years of dedication to Public
Works and public service and wish him and his wife Sally many years of happy, healthy and
fulfilling
