A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO FREDDIE MENA OF THE WATER DIVISION
AND COMMENDING HIM FOR MORE THAN
THIRTY-SIX YEARS OF LOYAL AND
DEDICATED
SERVICE.WHEREAS, Freddie Mena began his career with the City of Orange on
December 19, 1973, working for the Water Division as a Maintenance Man I, and was promoted
to Maintenance Worker H on Apri125, 1976, then to Equipment Operator I on July 3, 1977
and to his current position of Water Maintenance Leadworker on September 19, 1982;
and WHEREAS, Freddie is a dedicated and dependable team player, knownfc~r
his dedication to getting the job done right the first time. Over the years, rie has
willingly worked many long hours of overtime on emergency repairs in less than ideal conditions,
in order to restore water service when unforeseen events would cause a disruption of
service.He is known for his selflessness in working to put the customer's needs first and foremost
in his work,
and WHEREAS, Freddie has countless years of "hands on" experience on
numerous difficult and unique projects enabling him to draw on oft forgotten knowledge long
thought lost, in critical times of emergency repairs. He has worked at many of the differing
job positions within the Division and as a result, has amassed a vast array of knowledge of
water distribution system operation. As such, he is acutely aware and understands the
many differing facets and nuances of water system components and their operation. He
continues to share this wealth of understanding to better help further Division goals and train
newer employees. His easy going personality and friendly demeanor establishes a
constructive venue for those he works with,
and WHEREAS, Freddie has labored tirelessly in maintaining and servicing theCity'
s valve operations program, which remains a critical component of the water
system infrastructure,
and WHEREAS, Freddie is to be commended for his foresight and vision
when contributing to helping build a water system that is dependable and cost efficient for
the citizens of
Orange.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council, on behalf of
the employees and citizens of the City of Orange, hereby expresses to Freddie Mena
appreciation for over 36 years of loyal and dedicated service and wish him and his wife Theresa a
happy and fulfilling
