A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO BILL TRAPP OF THE PUBLIC WORKS
DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM FOR
MORE THAN 34 YEARS OF LOYAL AND
DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Bill Trapp began his career with the City of Orange in May of 1975 as a
Maintenance Man I on the Public Works Department concrete crew and was promoted to
Cement Finisher in September 1978; and
WHEREAS, in April 1980 Bill was promoted to Maintenance Lead Worker; and in
June 1997 transferred from the Maintenance Section to the Construction Section as a
Construction Inspector I; and in December 1997, was promoted to Construction Inspector II;
and
WHEREAS, Bill has consistently produced high-quality inspection work. His
well rounded experience allowed him to conduct inspections on public improvement projects
as well as private developments. Bill always works diligently and strives to treat
contractors,utility companies and City of Orange residents alike, fairly and courteously. He
answers questions, helps to resolve issues, provides valuable suggestions and makes sure all
codes and standards are complied with;
and WHEREAS Bill has provided excellent on-the-job training
to prospective inspectors,his thorough knowledge of inspection and extensive construction
inspection experience as well as his friendly manner will be missed by
his coworkers; and WHEREAS, Some of Bill's most significant projects include
the Del Rio Development; where he inspected all infrastructure including the biofiltration
swales and the water quality basin, Serrano Heights, Grijalva Park and his most recent and
final project, the Santiago Avenue Bike Trail
North Project; and WHEREAS, Bill has a life-long passion for cycling, Bill has
used a bicycle for commuting, exercise and charity rides. He has used many a trail
over the years, including riding along the coast of California three times, multi-
week rides covering several western states as well as portions of Canada and the Canadian Rockies.
Bill also served on the Bicycle Trails Committee and helped to develop the Master Plan
of Bicycle Trails
for the City of Orange.WHEREAS, Bill is the definition of a running
man, having competed in marathons from the east to the west coast and the states in between. In pursuit
of his passion, Bill has ventured to faraway lands including Russia, China and the Himalayas.
Most of all, Bill has had a tremendous impact on his co-worker's fitness
by devoting time to encourage, inspire
WHEREAS, Bill has managed to conform to city dress code by wearing shorts to
work every day of his 34 plus years of service; regardless of whether it's summer or winter,
rain or shine.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council, on behalf of the
employees and citizens of the City of Orange, hereby express to Bill Trapp appreciation for
over 34 years of loyal and dedicated service and wish Bill and his wife, Claudia, a happy and
fulfilling retirement.
