A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO DOUGLAS WESTFALL OF THE LIBRARY
BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR HIS THIRTEEN
YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Douglas Westfall has served on the Library Board of Talistees for 13
years during which time he has gained the respect of fellow Trustees, elected officials, staff,
and the citizens of Orange. He served as Chair from July 2002 to January 2010; and
WHEREAS, during his 13 years, he has been an important member of the Library
Board of Trustees. He contributed valuable input toward the construction of the Orange
Public Library & History Center, helping it grow into the fine institution it is today. He has
donated many of the historical books he has written to the Library's Local History archives.
He was instrumental in collecting Local History materials from local archivists, businesses,
and the community for the library; and
WHEREAS, Doug and his wife Jackie have owned The Paragon Agency, Publishers
for 20 years. Doug is a successful writer, lecturer, and publisher. He has written historical
materials over the last two decades, and has given presentations across the United States and
also Canada, Latin America, Europe, and the Philippines; and
WHEREAS, Doug came to the Library Board of Trustees with the desire to help
guide and shape the Orange Public Library's future and to participate in helping the library to
grow. His participation on the Board added to the overall betterment of the City; and
WHEREAS, Doug has been a long time resident of Orange and even though he will
no longer be serving on the Library Board of Trustees, we are sure he will continue to be
involved in the growth of the Library.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Orange that Douglas Westfall be congratulated for 13 years of dedicated service to the
Library Board of Trustees, the Library Services Department, and the City of Orange.
