A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE .
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO BILL HINTZ AND COMMENDING HIM FOR
THIRTY YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED
SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Bill Hintz started working in the City of Orange on the second of September,
1980. He arrived with several academic degrees: a BA in History from UCLA, an AA in
Accounting from Fullerton Junior College, and an AA in Pre-Law from Cypress College. During
his tenure, he worked as a Finance Clerk for William Scholl, Emily Harrison, Pat Griffin, Helen
Bell,Rich Jacobs, and others;
and WHEREAS, He has always been eager to further his knowledge and has a very
good understanding of the duties of his position. He has developed a strong historical knowledge,
which has been very helpful with the passage of time and the advent of new programs and software;
and WHEREAS, Bill is always eager to help when employees call with questions about
invoices,account numbers, vendor numbers, etc., and shows incredible patience with these inquiries;
and WHEREAS, Bill has shown a photographic memory regarding invoices, vendors,
account numbers, but especially sporting statistics. He is known as Mr. Encyclopedia of Movies, Sports
and Music because of his exceptional trivia knowledge in these areas;
and WHEREAS, Years ago Bill learned from working the Payment Drive-
Through window what it must be like to be a Starbuck's employee because of the special abilities it takes to
deal with the general
public; and WHEREAS, As long as most employees can remember, we can hear the
greeting, "Accounts Payable, Bill speaking." It will take awhile to get used to not hearing his pleasant voice. It
is not unusual to see Bill get his daily exercise walking briskly around the city, getting in shape
to enjoy his retirement at some exotic beach or foreign
shore; and WHEREAS, Bill has announced his retirement as ofMay 3`d of 2010, and
will especially enjoy watching the sportschannel 24/7, closely following his beloved Dodgers, as well
as playing golf and
going bowling.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City
of Orange,expresses sincere appreciation and congratulations to Bill Hintz for his thirty years of
loyal service,and wishes him a long and
