A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO JEANNE AREHART AND COMMENDING HER
FOR TWENTY-ONE YEARS OF LOYAL
AND DEDICATED
SERVICE WHEREAS, Jeanne, graduated from San Diego State University with a BA
in Accounting and began her government career at the City of Escondido in utility billing
and payroll. After atwo-year internship at Moreland and Associates, she became
a Certified Public Accountant, and in 1989 she came to Orange as a contract
Accounting Manager.Over five years, Jeanne was appointed to the post of Acting Finance Director
on two different occasions, and in 1995 she was promoted to Assistant Finance
Director; and WHEREAS, in 2000, Jeanne becamethe City's Internal Audit
Manager, overseeing the Audit Committee to ensure that the City maintained strong internal
controls. She,however, came full circle in 2008 and returned to the Finance team as
Accounting Manager.Not only has she always been an invaluable member of Finance, but she was part
of a challenging Utility Billing software conversion in the late 1990s. She instituted
the famous Finance "
Game Week."WHEREAS, she laughingly admits that although she wasn't smitten with him
at first,Jeanne changed her mind and married City employee Jeff Arehart in November of
1992. She will always have fond memories of her Finance surprise engagement party when
she hears the song "Going to
the Chapel."WHEREAS, Jeanne and Jeff have two sons, CJ and Grant, and in her
spare time volunteers for the school's PTO, and her sons' Lacrosse teams as "Team Mom."
She's usually chosen to be Treasurer because she's so good with
cash; and WHEREAS, Jeanne is not shy by nature-she says what she means
and means what she says-and delivers it with a contagious smile and impish chuckle.
She is an analytic professional and has proven herself as a good leader time and again. It
is widely known that,When Jeanne
speaks, people listen," and WHEREAS, Jeanne has announced her plan to retire as of July
5, 2010. With her strong accounting skills, in-depth knowledge of the City's financial
operations, as well as her unique sense of humor, she will be a hard act to follow, and will
be missed by her many friends
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Orange,
expresses sincere appreciation and congratulations to Jeanne Arehart for her 21 years of loyal
and dedicated service, and wishes her a long and happy retirement.
