A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO FIRE CAPTAIN DENNIS WEAVER OF THE
ORANGE CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR
TWENTY -SIX YEARS OF LOYAL AND
DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, in 1984 Dennis Weaver was hired as a Firefighter for the Orange City Fire
Department, and quickly became a Firefighter Paramedic in 1986; and
WHEREAS, in 1986 Dennis was then promoted to Fire Captain, and subsequently assigned
as a Captain Paramedic. Shortly thereafter, he was assigned to Administrative Captain for three
years, to which he is commended for his excellent performance; and
WHEREAS, Dennis was a "bull" of a Firefighter. He fearlessly approached every incident
head -on, despite the degree of difficulty; and
WHEREAS, On one particular incident, with two houses burning, an unnamed Captain put
Dennis on the rooftop of one of the houses and left him there, forgetting about him for 20 minutes;
and
WHEREAS, Dennis received an Associate of Arts degree in General Education, along with
his degree in Fire Science. Dennis, A.K.A. "Doc ", also received his Doctorate degree from the
Cleveland College of Chiropractic and is a certified chiropractor; and
WHEREAS, Dennis was highly involved in the Annual Communicable Disease training. He
originated the use of mouth -to -mouth devices and pouch gloves; and
WHEREAS, Dennis served as a Board Member for the Orange City Firefighters Local No.
12384. He was a strong advocate of Union issues, providing improvement and protection for its
members; and
WHEREAS, One of Dennis' hobbies is watching John Wayne Westerns. He is also an avid
reader. He loves walking his dogs and jogging in the hills. He also enjoys barbecuing; his tip for
making barbecued tri -tip was to "turn it after you finish your first drink "; and
WHEREAS, Dennis is very devoted to his wife, son, and daughter. He loved vacationing
with them in Pismo Beach, to where he and the family have since relocated.
NOW, THEREFORE, on the occasion of his retirement from the City of Orange, we
wish to recognize Dennis Weaver for nearly 27 years of dedication to the Fire Department
and public service; and wish Dennis and his family many years of happiness, health, and
fulfillment during retirement.
