RES-10767 Loyal Service Appreciation For Jose MacielRESOLUTION NO. 10767 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO JOSE MACIEL OF THE ENGINEERING DIVISION, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM FOR MORE THAN THIRTY -FOUR YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE WHEREAS, Mr. Jose Maciel began his career with the City of Orange Public Works Department on November 26, 1979 working as a Maintenance Worker I for the Street Maintenance Division. He was promoted to Maintenance Worker II in April 1982; and WHEREAS, Jose was promoted to an Equipment Operator I in November 1984 and in May 1985 was promoted to Equipment Operator II; and WHEREAS, Jose was promoted to a Construction Inspector I in November 1988 for the Engineering Division and in July 2000 was promoted to Construction Inspector II and subsequently promoted to Senior Construction Inspector in June 2007; and WHEREAS, Jose has always demonstrated uncanny resourcefulness and patient professionalism in dealing with many unique challenges placed before him in the course of his work. He has consistently shown a firm and unrelenting dedication to duty, working over whenever needed, even through the night and weekends as the job demanded; and WHEREAS, Jose has consistently remained steadfast in the face of difficult situations, and has never shied away from making field decisions when required to maintain the integrity of the City's construction improvements projects; and WHEREAS, Jose has proven himself a tactful and adept customer service representative for the City of Orange, whether it involved dealing with homeowners, utility companies, contractors, or developers. He is courteous and has always gone out of his way to do his best to address homeowner concerns to help bring about a successful conclusion. He remains a wealth of information involving the design and construction of any improvements projects; and WHEREAS, Jose likes to travel. Jose would like to cruise around the world without having to worry about returning back to work. Jose takes the term "Cruise- Mode" literally! So, he will be cruising throughout his retirement, "Literally ". NOW, THEREFORE, I, Teresa E. Smith, Mayor of the City of Orange, on behalf of the entire City Council, do hereby express to Mr. Jose Maciel our genuine appreciation and gratitude for over 34 years of loyal and dedicated service, and sincerely wish Jose and his wife Martha a happy and fulfilling retirement.
