RES-10765 Loyal Service Appreciation For Frank EickhoffRESOLUTION NO. 10765 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO FRANK EICKHOFF OF THE ORANGE CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM FOR THIRTY YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE. WHEREAS, Frank Eickhoff joined the Orange City Fire Department on September 18,1983; and WHEREAS, he worked as a Firefighter, promoting to Paramedic in 1985. In March 1990, he was then promoted to Captain and in January 1998, he was promoted to Battalion Chief. In August 2004, Frank was assigned as Division Chief where he directed the Operations Division of the Fire Department which includes all eight fire stations and 120 firefighting personnel; and WHEREAS, Frank was considered a fire command expert, he was always cool under fire, Frank was highly committed to the safety of the personnel under his command; and WHEREAS, he assumed the role as Acting Fire Chief upon the retirement of Chief Bonacker, distinguishing himself by keeping the department functioning effectively and efficiently; and WHEREAS, Frank received the Rotary Club's Fire Department Manager of the Year Award in 2008 and 2013. He also received the American Red Cross Bravo for Bravery Award for his dedication and quick decision to break several strike teams of engines away from the Malibu fire, redirecting them back to Orange County to serve the Santiago Fire; and WHEREAS, he was a California Certified Chief Officer, qualified Type 3 Incident Command, Strike Team Leader, Agency Representative, Lead Department Instructor for ICS, Command and Control, and most recently Operations Deputy Chief; and WHEREAS, Frank wore many hats and he wore them with dignity and pride. The one that he is most proud of is being husband to Teri and father to three wonderful boys; and WHEREAS, he has an affinity for gambling in Las Vegas, an appeal for dam infrastructures, and a love for Chinese food. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Teresa E. Smith, Mayor of the City of Orange, on behalf of the entire City Council, do hereby commend Frank Eickhoff for his 30 years of distinguished and honorable service to the Orange City Fire Department and to the citizens of Orange.
