A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
TIIE CITY OF ORANGE APPROVING
ADDITIONAL TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF
SECTIONS OF PUBLIC STREETS FOR A
SPECIAL EVENT AND REVISING AN
EXISTING APPROVED CLOSUR.
WFIEREAS, Vehicle Code Section 21101(e) authorizes cities to close portions of streets
for celebrations and local special events when, in the opinion of the City Council, the closure is
necessary for the safety and protection of persons who aze to use that portion of the sfreet during
the temporary closing; and
WII REAS,the City Council previously approved street closures for the following special
events during 2019: Orange Plaza Caz Show, 3` of July Celebration, Orange International Street
Fair, Treats in the Streets, Veteran's Tribute, and Tree Lighting Ceremony and Candlelight
Procession; and
WHEREAS, an ame dment is needed to the previously approved street closure for the 3rd
of July Celebration; and
WHEREAS,the Community Services Department and the Orange Chamber of Commerce
aze requesting temporary street closures to accommodate an additional special event in the streets.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orange as
follows:
MAY FESTIVAL PARADE:
Section I•
That Chapman Avenue be closed from Cambridge Street to Lemon Street and that Glassell
Street be closed from Palmyra Avenue to Maple Avenue from 12:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., Saturday,
May 4, 2019.
Section II:
That before said closure shall occur the Orange Chamber of Commerce shall comply with
any and all terms and conditions required by Ciry.
Section III•
That the Orange Chamber of Commerce shall notify azea residents and businesses of the
event and temporary street closure as required by City.
3 d OF JULY CELEBRATIONt
Section I•
That Walnut Avenue be closed from North Prospect Street to Grijalva Pazk, that North
Prospect Street be closed from Spring Sh eet to Walnut Avenue, and that McPherson Road be
closed from East Pearl to Grijalva Pazk 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 3, 2019.
Section II•
That before said closures shall occur,the City of Orange Community Services Depaztment,
with assistance from the Public Works Depar[ment and the Orange Police Department, shall
provide all signage, bamcades, and tr c control necessary for the closure, as acceptable to the
CiTy.
Section IfI•
That before said closures shall occur,the City of Orange CommuniTy Services Department
shall notify azea businesses, residents, and HOAs of the event, temporary street closures, and
secondary access points in accordance with the Orange Police DepartmenYs directions.
