Bid No. 156 -21; SP -3937; Annual Concrete Replacement at Various Locations, Fiscal Year
2015 -16 (FYI 6). Approval of plans and specifications and authorization to advertise for bids.
2. SUMMARY
Plans and specifications have been completed for the Annual Concrete Replacement at Various
Locations, FY16 Project. The project is ready to be advertised for bids. The estimated
construction cost is $500,000 with 10% contingency.
3. RECOMMENDED ACTION
Approve plans and specifications and authorize advertising for bids for the Annual Concrete
Replacement at Various Locations, FYI Project.
4. FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted in the Capital Improvement Program and are available in the following
accounts:
263.5021.51700.00000 (Measure M — Contractual Services) $ 170,000
263.5011.56330.13120 (Local Street Maintenance) $ 330,000
Total: $ 500,000

6. GENERAL PLAN IMPLEMENTATION
Infrastructure Element Goal 3.0 Ensure adequate maintenance of public rights -of -way to
enhance public safety and improve circulation.
Policy 3.1: Continue to maintain and repair sidewalks and pavement surfaces on public rights -
of -way.
7. DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND
This project is part of the annual street maintenance activities for curb and gutter, sidewalk,
driveway, and cross gutter replacement at various locations.
Utilizing the City's Pavement Management Survey ranking of the streets, the City has prepared a
list of streets requiring pavement rehabilitation for FY16. This project will complete all concrete
replacement needs within these street rehabilitation locations before street overlay and slurry seal
work starts, and other high maintenance areas. Street rehabilitation overlay and slurry seal will
bid out as a separate project later this fiscal year.
The estimated total quantities of concrete replacement at various locations, FYI is as follows:
1. 4,000 linear feet of curb and gutter
2. 41,000 square feet of sidewalk
3. 3,000 square feet of driveway apron
4. 4,000 square feet cross gutter and spandrel
The total estimated construction cost for the annual concrete replacement project is $500,000 with
10% contingency.
Construction is estimated to begin in February 2015 and be completed by June 2015.
