HomeMy WebLinkAboutSR - RES-10886 - COMMENDATION TWENTY FIVE YEARSRESOLUTION NO. 10886
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO AURELIO "AL" MEDINA AND COMMENDING
HIM FOR TWENTY -FIVE YEARS OF LOYAL AND
DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Al Medina began working for the City of Orange in June of 1990 in the
position of Storekeeper. In his 25 -year career with the City, he has been promoted from
Storekeeper to his present position as a Buyer.
WHEREAS, when Al started with the City, Purchasing was a division of the General
Services Department, located at the Corp Yard. Over the years, Purchasing became a division of
the Finance Department. Because of his office location and frequent attendance at Corp Yard
events, many employees have been under the misbelief that he was part of Public Works, but
Finance claims him as their own.
WHEREAS, when Al started as a Storekeeper, he was provided a minivan to make his
daily pickups and deliveries, which was a big cost saver for many years. When Al's minivan was
upgraded to a delivery truck and a cargo van, he was better able to pick up and deliver larger items,
which was a big step up!
WHEREAS, Al has always been a hard - working and conscientious individual. His many
qualities include his willingness to assist fellow colleagues and vendors with their warehouse and
purchasing questions and procedures. On occasions when he has been known to strongly voice
his opinion, he does so with a twinkle in his eye and a hearty laugh. His sense of humor and
outgoing demeanor make a shy employee feel welcome.
WHEREAS, it is a little known fact that if it's around 12:00 lunchtime, the lights are out
on the 2nd floor of the warehouse, and the TV is on low, it might be "siesta time" for Al. We
suspect that this tradition will continue for Al long after his retirement.
WHEREAS, Al has announced his retirement effective October 8, 2015. Al is looking
forward to spending more time on the golf greens. He and his wife Debbie plan to take more
leisurely bike rides, and perhaps he'll even slow down enough to actually ride together and not
leave his injured damsel in distress! (Al will never live that one down!) He will be missed by the
entire Finance Department at department potlucks and birthday celebrations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Orange,
his fellow employees, and a grateful community, express sincere appreciation and congratulations
to Al Medina for his 25 years of loyal and dedicated service, and wish him a long and happy
retirement.
ADOPTED, this 8 day of September 2015.
