SUBJECT Appropriation of funds received from Rancho Santiago Community College District (Santa Ana College) for Fire Department training hours. 2. SUMMARY The Fire Department is a party to an agreement with Santa Ana College, wherein the College pays the Department $3.50 per firefighter for each hour of training that we provide. Within the agreement, funds may be used for Fire Department training expenses and other operational needs. The Fire Department recently received a check for $18,821.04 from Rancho Santiago Community College District, pursuant to this agreement. These funds now need to be appropriated into the Fire Department's FY 2015 -16 Budget. 3. RECOMMENDED ACTION Accept into the City's revenue budget an $18,821.04 payment from Rancho Santiago Community College District, into revenue account 100.3023.48210.20234 — (Santa Ana College 15 -16). Authorize the appropriation of $18,821.04 into expenditure account 100.3023.51840.20234 — (Santa Ana College 15 -16). 4. FISCAL IMPACT Upon appropriation, funds will be available to cover the costs of Fire Department training and operational programs as follows: 100.3023.51840.20234 (Santa Ana College 15 -16) $18,821.04 ITEM 1. j.0 1 09/08/2015 5. GENERAL PLAN IMPLEMENTATION Public Safety Goal 6.0: Provide public safety services of the highest quality. Policy 6.7: Maintain and update the City's Multi- Hazard Functional Plan as needed, and ensure ongoing consistency between the General Plan and the Multi- Hazard Functional Plan and Fire Department Strategic Deployment Plan. 7. DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND The additional funds, if appropriated, will give the Fire Department the ability to pay outside instructors; buy improved training aids and equipment, and purchase books and materials. These funds also help the Fire Department meet other operational needs. 8.
