SUMMARY This $10,000 grant will be used to present the PBS documentary and other programs that collect and highlight the contributions of Latino Americans to city history. Funds will be used for speaker fees, program materials, and marketing. Acceptance of the revenue and its appropriation into the FYI 5/16 budget is requested. 3. RECOMMENDATION 1) Accept in the City's revenue budget a $10,000.00 grant from NEH into revenue account #100.2001.45150.3007 (NEH Grant); and 2) Authorize the appropriation of $10,000 into expenditure account 4100.2001.51001.30077 (NEH Grant). 4. FISCAL IMP Upon appropriation of this grant, the Library budget will increase by $10,000. 5. STRATEGIC PLAN GOA 3. Enhance and promote quality of life in the community. e. GENERAL PLAN IMPLEMENTATION 5.0 Meet the educational, cultural, civic, information, recreation, business, and life -long learning needs of residents through the provision of library resources. 5.4 Promote collaborations among community groups, educational institutions and the Public Library to enhance sharing of information, resources, and financial support for library facilities, services and programs. 17. DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND The Orange Public Library has been selected to receive a $10,000 programming grant for Latino Americans: 500 Years of History. The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) has generously provided support for 203 libraries, museums, historical societies, cultural and community organizations, and other nonprofits nationwide to participate in this program, and our organization is one of 55 selected for a $10,000 award. This grant is meant to highlight and promote the history and experiences of Latinos in the United States by means of the NEH funded PBS six -part documentary series Latino Americans. The grant will enable the Library to present the PBS documentary and other programs that collect and highlight the contributions of Latino Americans to city history.
