DISCUSSION and BACKGROUND The contract for the construction of the New Marywood Pump Station project was awarded to SCW Contracting Corporation on April 24, 2014. Construction has been underway since summer 2014 and the project should be completed by late summer 2015. During the construction of the pump station, some unanticipated situations arose that required minor modifications to the plans and extra work in order to continue. Among the changes were: modifications required to both the suction and discharge pipeline alignments due to conflicts and clearance issues with existing utilities, the addition of a mainline isolation valve along with an air /vacuum valve to be able to construct the suction line connection to the pump station, the addition of additional pump control valves to better mitigate start up and shut down water pressures, concrete work to make the transformer fit, and replacement and repair of some damage that occurred when the existing suction line broke just before construction started. To cover the above listed changes, the attached Contract Change Order includes the addition of two 10" pump control valves, an 18" butterfly valve, and a 2" air /vacuum valve, rerouting SCE conduits, installing a concrete slab and bulkhead for the SCE transformer, replacing survey markings and BMPs due to the emergency waterline break, resolving conflicts with underground utilities encountered during installation of the suction and discharge piping on Villa Real Drive. The original Contract amount is $2,390,235.00. Contract Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $113,972.31 represents a 4.77% increase from the original amount, bringing the total contract amount to $2,504,207.31. 18.
